What is Bi Feng Xia?
With an area of 20 square kilometers, Bi Feng Xia is situated 128 kilometers from Chengdu and 12 kilometers from Ya’an. The area is endowed with green forests with an area of more than 13 square kilometers. Bi Feng Xia is an ideal summer resort with many waterfalls and offers you a chance to keep close to the wildlife, such as lions and tigers.

What to expect at Bi Feng Xia

Bi Feng Xia is composed of wildlife world, the ecological canyon scenic area and the giant panda base. With a shape of “V” and offering more than 50 waterfalls to explore, the canyon area is made up of two gorges. The left gorge is 7 kilometers long while the right one is 2.5 kilometers long. Bi Feng Xia features its unique vegetation, gorge view and waterfalls. Strange green peaks stand along the gorges.
The wildlife world is the only one wildlife world in Sichuan. It covers an area of 666.67 hectares. Visitors could enjoy the beasts in a special car, such as leopard, manchurian tigers, white lions, white tigers and golden monkeys, keep close to the small animals in the hiking area and appreciate the animal behaviors display in a designated area. In addition, visitors can admire the cute giant pandas at the panda base.
Best time to visit Bi Feng Xia

The best months to visit Bi Feng Xia is from March to May and from September to November as these months are not so cold or so hot.

 

How to get to the Bi Feng Xia

There are several shuttle buses to Bi Feng Xia from Chengdu. Therefore, there are a few options.

  • Rent a vehicle to Bi Feng Xia from Chengdu or Ya’an. This is the quickest and most direct option.
  • Take the tourist bus of “Chengdu – Bi Feng Xia”(成都 – 碧峰峡) at the Chengdu Xinnanmen Tourist Bus Station(成都新南门旅游客运站) and Chengdu Shiyangchang Bus Station (成都石羊场客运站) to Bi Feng Xia directly.
  • Take the bus of “Chengdu – Ya’an(成都 – 雅安) at the Chengdu Shiyang Bus Station(成都石羊客运站) to the Ya’an West Bus Station(雅安西客运站). Then, take a taxi to the Yan’an Tourist Bus Station(雅安旅游车站). Finally, take the tourism bus of “Ya’an – Bi Feng Xia”(雅安 – 碧峰峡).

  • Opening hours for the canyon scenic area: 08:00 – 16:00 (summer) and 08:30 – 16:00 (winter); opening hours for the wildlife world : 08:30 – 16:00 (summer) and 09:00 – 15:40 (winter); opening hours for the panda base: 08:30 – 11:30 and 13:30 – 16:00 (summer) and 09:00 – 11:30 and 13:30 – 16:00 (winter).
  • As at 7th October 2020, for Bi Feng Xia (including the admission to the panda base),entrance pricing is 118 CNY per person; 60 CNY per person is for the elder between 60 years old(60 years old included) and 69 years old(69 years old included) and the children between 1.2m(1.2m included) and 1.5m(1.5m included); the elder above 70 years old(70 years old included) and the children under 1.2m(1.2m not included) are free of charge.
  • For the wildlife world, entrance pricing is 180 CNY per person; 90 CNY per person is for the elder between 60 years old(60 years old included) and 69 years old(69 years old included) and the children between 1.2m(1.2m included) and 1.5m(1.5m included); the elder above 70 years old(70 years old included) and the children under 1.2m(1.2m not included) are free of charge.
  • For the helicopter enjoyment in the area, entrance pricing is 600 CNY per person; 400 CNY per person is for the children between 1.2m (1.2m included) and 1.5m (1.5m not included); children under 1.2m (1.2m not included) are free of charge but one child shall be accompanied by an adult.

  • There are several Chinese restaurants in the tourist center to have meals.
  • Many visitors said the food in the restaurants were not delicious. Therefore, it is recommended that you take some food with you.

  • Please take an umbrella with you in the area as it rains often.
