The Shangri–La Hotel in Guilin is currently considered to be the best 5-Star Hotel within the Guilin city area. Opened in 2009, the hotel offers a view of the Li River and surrounding green gardens with spacious rooms. It’s also great place for families to stay with children as there’s sometimes a mini farm & zoo inside of the hotel and playground for kids to explore.

The Shangri-La Hotel is approximately a 10 x minute drive to the Guilin City Center where travelers can visit the famous Zhengyang Pedestrian Street and the Moon & Sun Pagodas. The Guilin Shangri-La Hotel is located approximately 50 x minutes’ drive from the airport and 30mins from Guilin North Train station.

The Sheraton Guilin Hotel is centrally located within 1 x minute walking distance to the Li River and less than 8 x minutes’ walk to Guilin’s most famous landmark – Elephant Trunk Hill and the Sun & Moon Pagodas at the City Lakes. There’s also Shangshui Snack Street located at the rear of the hotel, which is one of the best places to taste local snacks.

The Sheraton Hotel in Guilin was first built in 1998 and renovated in 2008 – inside, the rooms are still maintained with classic Sheraton standard but other areas of the hotel and facilities are considered by some to be out of date. However, if you are looking for a comfortable hotel with a fantastic central location for you to explore the city and do some shopping, this is a great choice. Don’t forget to go to their lounge for a drink and enjoy the beautiful Li River view from the balcony!

Located in between of Guilin in Yangshuo County, the Club Med, Guilin is surrounded by 50 beautiful Karst mountain peaks with 460,000 square meters of the nature landscape scenery. , which constitutes the unique landscape of Guilin Club Med.

There are more than 70 foreign staffs from 20 countries work here so you won’t need to worry about the language barrier. With a variety of recreational activities and sports facilities, golf, rock climbing in the resort plus the excellent babysitting service in the kids club, it is the best kid friendly hotel to spend a family holiday in Guilin. However, with one hour driving distance from both Guilin and Yangshuo, some of our clients mentioned the location is not so great for sightseeing.

The White House Hotel, Guilin

The White House Hotel in Guilin is located within the former residence of Bai Chongxi (a general from Guilin). Located right next to the Banyan Lake area in the bustling downtown area. It is the former residence of the general of Republic of China before 1949. The hotel keeps a large number of antique furniture and antique pianos, phonographs, clocks, etc during the Civil War period.

The White House Hotel features a spa bathtub within all rooms and each room is spacious with breathtaking views of bamboo trees and the Banyan Lake in central Guilin. From Guilin Airport, it takes approximately 40 x minutes to drive to the White House House whilst from Guilin Train Station it’s a 10 x minute driver. Moreover, it’s only a short walking distance from the city center area of Guilin. However, some of our clients mentioned with the central Air Conditioning in the hotel, the minimum room temperature is 26 x degrees and might not be cold enough during the summer nights.

The Guilin Lijiang Waterfall Hotel is located in the city center area of Guilin, within walking distance to Elephant Trunk Hill, Sun & Moon Pagodas at Shan Lake, Banyan Lake, Shangshui Snack Street and Zhengyang Walking Street. The hotel has a large man-made waterfall running down the exterior of the building with a width of 72 meters in the upper part, a width of 75 meters in the lower part and a height of 45 meters for the waterfall. It has been included among the Guinness World Records of having the largest artificial waterfall at the hotel. The rooms are big and the hotel staff are very friendly. If you are used to firmer mattresses, the beds are quite comfortable. Lots of travel agencies like to put their Chinese domestic tour groups within this hotel so it can be quite busy and we have some clients advised that the hotel facilities are dated but the location is very convenient for those who love to go out shopping, eating and seeking the nightlife in the city center of Guilin.

The hotel was renovated in 2017, so the facilities are very good with comfortable rooms. With the stunning views from the roof top restaurant and excellent services within the hotel, it makes a fantastic choice for both Chinese and Foreigners who travel to Guilin. The Jolie Vue Boutique Hotel is less than 5 x minutes walking distance from the famous Sun & Moon pagodas and Zhengyang Walking Street. Moreover, it’s approximately 10 x minutes by taxi from Guilin Train Station, 40 x minutes by car from Guilin North/West train Station and 50 x minutes from Guilin Liangjiang Airport. The hotel also offers complimentary Airport/train station pick up service for hotel guests. However, you would need to contact the hotel at least 24 x hours in advance and the pickup service hours are normally from 8am to 10pm.

As the Li River Secluded Hotel only opened in 2018, all the facilities are new and the beds are very comfortable. There are lots of options for breakfast but some of our western clients found it’s too Chinese-flavored for them.

Just like its name, the Secret Courtyard Resort Hotel is a unique hotel hidden within Lujiacun village on the banks of the Peach Blossom River in Guilin. It is approximately 20 x minutes driving distance to Guilin City Center and walking distance to the famous Reed Flute Cave. The Secret Courtyard Resort Hotel is also approximately 30 x minutes drive from Guilin Liangjiang Airport and approximately 40 x minutes drive from Guilin North/Guilin West Train Stations. The breakfast options can be both Chinese and Western style. The Secret Courtyard Resort Hotel has been rated as one of the best value hotels in Guilin, if you are not looking for a centrally located hotel during your stay in Guilin.

Located opposite the Banyan Lake at the Two Rivers and Four Lakes Scenic Spot, the Aroma Tea House (formerly named Jingguan MingLou Hotel) first opened in 2008 and it’s less than 10 x minutes’ walking distance to the city center area. With a range of Chinese antiques, art galleries, porcelain & calligraphy collections, the museum within the Aroma Tea House is a highlight in itself. The Aroma Tea House hotel staff are very friendly and speak good English. There’s also normally a free city lakes walking tour available at the hotel if you book in advance/when checking into the hotel. Overall, the Aroma Tea House Hotel offers personalized service in a great location but some of our clients mentioned the rooms are a bit outdated and the breakfast option can be limited for some.

Guilin Yi Royal Palace

The Guilin Yi Royal Palace is located inside the Guilin Botanical Gardens next to Lianda Shopping Mall. It’s approximately 30 x minutes’ drive from Guilin Liangjiang Airport and approximately 15 x minutes by taxi from the city center. From Guilin City Train/Bus Station, it takes less than 10 x minutes to drive to Guilin Yi Royal Palace. The hotel has the reputation of being a “relaxing green oasis” in Guilin City due to its nice traditional Chinese Garden setting and lovely outdoor pool. You can not drive any vehicle to the hotel and all hotels guests have to take the electric golf cart from the entrance of the Botanic Garden to the Guilin Yi Royal Palace when checking into the hotel. Some of our guests mentioned the room itself is a bit old and the bed mattresses are firm.

The Guilin Heshe Holiday is located next to the Reed Flute Cave close to the Peach Blossom River (Taohua jiang River). The hotel is surrounded by mountains and waters, with ancient trees facing the window, hidden in the lake and mountains, blending in with nature. The Guilin Heshe Holiday Hotel has more than 20 x rooms, and you can also find nice family rooms here, mainly in the style of “traditional Chinese & Zen spirits”. The rooms are all fairly spacious and bright whilst the hotel staff are normally friendly and helpful. The only negative feedback from our clients is their breakfast is a Chinese style breakfast as opposed to Western breakfast.

Guilin Moonflower Hotel

Opened in 2015 and located at Lujiacun Village by the Peach Blossm River, the Moonflower Hotel is a small boutique hotel with comfortable, clean rooms and normally good value for money. There are many good restaurants next to the Moonflower Hotel in Lujiacun Village and hotel staff speak good English. The Reed Flute Cave is located approximately 10 x minute’s walk away whilst it takes approximately 20 x minutes to drive to Guilin City Center. From our experience, we suggest hotel guests to write down the Chinese name of the hotel as well as the phone number to avoid getting lost in taxis! From the feedback of our clients, the breakfast of this hotel is basic and the temperature of the water is not stable when taking shower. Also, there’s no lift at the hotel so you would need to carry your luggage to your room up stairs.

Guilin Exhibition International Hotel

Opened in 2016, the Guilin Exhibition International Hotel is located approximately 10 x minutes’ taxi ride from the city center next to the National Exhibition Shopping Park (Nancheng). The Exhibition International Hotel has an infinity swimming pool overlooking the beautiful views of Guilin city and the surrounding landscape. The hotel rooms are over 40 x square meters in size with good quality and comfortable mattresses. The location of this hotel might not be perfect if you want to walk around the center of the city for sightseeing, however, in terms of value for money, this is a great option if you speak some basic Chinese. The receptionist speak basic English but you might still need to practice your language skills with the restaurant and housekeeping staff.

Vienna Hotel (Binjiang Road Branch)

The Vienna Hotel is a hotel chain throughout China with several Vienna Hotel branches located in Guilin. However, in our opinion, the best Vienna Hotel in Guilin is the Binjiang Road Branch, which offers comfortable rooms, clean facilities and great views. It opened its doors in 2015 right in the central area of Guilin next to the Sun & Moon Pagodas (which is two minutes walking distance to the Two River & Four Lakes Night Cruise pier) as well as to the hustle & bustle of Zhengyang Pedestrian Street and Guilin Central Clock Tower. At the Vienna Hotel in Guilin, guests will experience fantastic views overlooking Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park pagodas and Guilin city lakes from the rooftop bar. Moreover, food options are diverse with a tasty Japanese restaurant next to the hotel in case you have eaten too much Chinese food. This particular Vienna Hotel predominantly hosts independent Chinese travelers and whilst the staff do speak English, some visitors do find the breakfast buffet being very basic. Please note, it might not be possible to use international credit cards at this hotel.

The Grand Bravo Hotel, first opened in 2014 as an alternative deluxe option to the Guilin Bravo Hotel, is a popular hotel on the outskirts of Guilin City. The hotel is built and rated between 4 – 5 star standard hotel and is located in a very peaceful area alongside the Peach Blossom River. From Grand Bravo Hotel, it takes approximately 10 x minutes to drive to the Reed Flute Cave, 15 x minutes to Guilin Train/Bus Station, 30 x minutes drive to Guilin Airport and approximately 30 x minutes to Guilin North/West Railway Stations. Among Chinese tour groups, the Grand Bravo Hotel is a very popular hotel so the breakfast time can be busy sometimes. Generally speaking, lots of our Chinese speaking clients enjoyed their stay in this hotel but some Western clients mentioned the beds are not soft enough and the service of the hotel staff could be improved.

The Elephant Trunk Hill Hotel is located right next to the Elephant Trunk Hill Scenic Spot and within 10 x minutes’ walk from the central area of Guilin. Opened in late 2014, the Elephant Trunk Hill Hotel offers spacious double beds, family rooms and loft rooms featuring 4 x twin beds. It’s a great choice for families with children who are looking for a centrally located hotel in Guilin. Please note, there are no lifts within the hotel and most of the rooms are on the 3rd floor so people with large luggage, young children or people with mobility problems might find it inconvenient staying at the hotel. Also the hotel breakfast is very Chinese with limited options – if you don’t mind having Chinese breakfast, speak some basic Chinese and also look for spacious room with good location, the Elephant Trunk Hill Hotel will be a nice hotel choice.

Hampton by Hilton Xiufeng Branch

There are 2 x Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Guilin – one is located in Lingui District (approximately 30 x minutes driving distance from Guilin City Center but very close to the airport) and this one – Hampton by Hilton Xiufeng Branch that is closer to the city (Approx 1.7 x miles from the downtown area of Guilin). The Hampton by Hilton Xiufeng Branch has been opened for guests since 2017 and whilst the lobby area is very small the rooms still remain the same standard as other “Hampton hotels”. However, as this hotel is located in a very local area where not many people speaks English and there are not so many restaurant options nearby so it’s better to have your meals before going back to the hotel unless you prefer to eat at the Chinese restaurant in the hotel. The hotel already has thick sound-proof windows to minimize outside noise and is a good choice for a international brand hotel in a local area with corresponding pricing.

This is the sister hotel of Zen Tea House (Seven Star Hotel) mentioned above, it is newly opened in 2018 close to the Elephant Trunk Hill in the city center area. It’s a short walking distance to the Guilin Aviation Hotel where you can take the Airport shuttle bus to Guilin Liangjiang Airport (approximately 40 x minutes by bus), and 10 x minutes by taxi to the Sun & Moon Pagodas as well as 15 x minutes to Fubo Hill and Diecai Hill. The property is modern/arty and the rooms are quite roomy and comfortable with very reasonable pricing. However, the breakfast can be very simple and you might need to carry your luggage upstairs to your room as there’s not lift in the hotel.

Memory Inn Boutique Hotel

Located in the downtown area right next to Guilin Xicheng Night Market (and approximately 5 – 8 x minutes walking distance to Central Square and the Sun & Moon Pagoda Street), the Memory Inn Boutique Hotel was built in 2016 with an old Shanghainese style in a local neighborhood area. The hotel staff are nice and helpful whilst the rooms are clean and comfortable. Also, there is a fruit shop supermarket within a walking distance from the Memory Inn Boutique Hotel and also a delicious Guilin Rice Noodles shop with one minute walk away. You might want to print out the address in Chinese as well as hotel’s phone number as some taxi drivers found the hotel is a bit difficult to fine. Also don’t forget to request a quiet room that doesn’t face the street as the neighbourhood could be a bit noisy sometimes (especially for rooms facing the main road).

The Mansion 1940 Hotel, also named the Yushan Hill Hotel was originally a Holiday apartment for the retired government officials from the 1940s to 1980s and was most recently renovated in 2015. It offers clean and comfortable rooms with a 1940s vintage Chinese Style. There are 2 x bedroom family suites for guests traveling with young children and looking for a comfortable hotel with reasonable pricing to stay in Guilin. Moreover, the Mansion 1940 Hotel is located approximately 20 x minutes by taxi to the city centre and 20 x minutes drive from Guilin North/ West high speed Train Station. The hotel offers simple Chinese and Western breakfast but has no lunch or dinner options. Visitors who cannot speak Chinese might find it difficult to get food as there are not many foreign friendly restaurant options within the vicinity.
