The Forbidden City is the largest and best-preserved royal palace in the world. It has more than 1,200 buildings with 9,000 rooms. For now, about 80% of them are opened to the public. You could explore the old buildings in the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1644 - 1912) Dynasties as well as the precious collection there.
