Bailuzhou Park - a popular park with a musical fountain at night in Xiamen

With an area of 15.9 hectares, Bailuzhou Park is the largest open square park in Xiamen. Opened in 1995, it is becoming more and more popular among locals for leisure. Statue of Egret Goddess in the park is one of landmark sculptures in Xiamen.

What to expect at Bailuzhou Park
Bailuzhou Park is composed of the Central Park and the Western Park. The central one has an area of 5.9 hectares. It is themed on the topic that human beings return to nature. Statue of Egret Goddess stands at the cruise wharf where you can enjoy the cruise on the Yundang Lake in the south of the park. It is 13.6 meters tall. The western one covers an area of 10 hectares. It is home to stone sculptures of Chinese Zodiac, music fountain and music outdoor squares.
Bailuzhou Park has brought in 400 beautiful square pigeons from Netherlands. They are regularly fed twice per day. If interested, you can feed them with sliced corns. They get on well with humans and are not afraid at all.
In the park, you’ll find sculptures reflecting the traditional Chinese customs. The sculpture of one dragon boat with boatmen each of whom has an oar in hand demonstrates the perseverance and endurance of Chinese people plus the dragon-boat culture in China.
The park is also equipped with various entertainment facilities. You can doing exercises on the outdoor fitness equipment. If you are a little tired, you can take a short break at one restaurant or cafe. Alternatively, you can just enjoy sun bathing on the large grass land. What’s more, the park is close to an art gallery, a painting and calligraphy academy, a bowling alley, a football club, a night club and the like.
On the nights of weekends and holidays, the amazing music fountain and light shows operate from 20:00 to 21:00. They are a feast for eyes.
Best time to visit Bailuzhou Park
If you’d like to visit the park for photography purposes, the best time to visit is at night.
The best months to visit are from March to November.
How to get to Bailuzhou Park
A few buses pass by the park. Thus, there are several options.
- Rent a vehicle to the park. This is the quickest and most direct option.
- Take Bus 15, 25, 26, 86, 87, 958 or Bus B3 to the Stop of Egret Islet Park (白鹭洲公园站).
