What is the Aizhai Bridge?
Located around 70 kilometers from Fenghuang Ancient Town, Aizhai Bridge in Hunan spans over a valley. It is 330 meters tall from the bottom of Dehang Canyon. The bridge was completed in 2012. Both ends of the bridge are connected with the tunnel. The bridge is part of Jishou – Chadong Highway.

What to expect at Aizhai Bridge
Aizhai Bridge in Hunan offers two layers, the upper layer for cars and the lower layer for sightseeing. Structural design for the complete separation between bridge tower and beams was first applied into the Aizhai Bridge. It is the first suspension bridge over the canyon. Rail cable launching method was first employed to erect steel truss girder as well.
Visitors need to take a lift down to the sightseeing channel on the lower layer. The sightseeing channel is some 300 meters long. The middle part of the channel is made of glass through which visitors can see the road on the mountain and at the canyon. At the bottom of the canyon lies Aizhai Town. The landscape of the town is breathtaking as well.
Looking in the distance, Aizhai Bridge is like a red belt. On foggy days, the views of the bridge look different. At the Aizhai Bridge Scenic Area, there is a viewpoint called Tianwen Viewpoint. Visitors need to take the lift from the viewpoint down to the sightseeing channel of the bridge. If interested, you could visit the glass plank road on the cliff near the bridge.

- Opening hours: 08:00 – 17:30
- As at 6th October 2020, the pass ticket for the bridge (including the entrance to the bridge, entrance to the sightseeing lift, entrance to the shuttle bus, entrance to Jidou Miao Village (吉斗苗寨) and entrance to the Tianwen Viewpoint) is 160 CNY per person; children under 1.3m tall (1.3m tall not included) are free of charge. - Aizhai Bridge and Jidou Miao Village are a little far from each other.
- If you are interested to the structure of the bridge, it is suggested that you explore it by getting the ticket. If you would like to take pictures of the bridge, it is recommended that you do it in the distance and it is unnecessary to buy the ticket.
- The tourist center offers the round-trip shuttle bus to/from the bridge.
- Water is not allowed to take into the bridge scenic area in case that some of visitors throw down the bottle into the canyon that the villagers will be hurt.
